High performance polishing machines for marble slabs
The HPM 2200 RS machines are high performance polishing machines for marble slabs, deriving from the granite version NP RS, from which they inherit most of the technological solutions. The HPM machines have spindles for dressing/polishing marble installed with the barycentre very close to the material as to make the machine work without vibrations and be very performing. Besides these standard machines are equipped with many accessories as interchangeable surfaces, touch-screen display, possibility of Ethernet connection, electronic control of the abrasive consumption, etc.
The base of the HPM 2200 RS is obtained from the NC processing of a steel monobloc. Thanks to the design of shapes on the computer, the base ensures the absence of vibrations, better quality of polishing, absence of noise and a long life.
In machines such as these, designed to withstand extremely high production rhythms, the phenomenon of wear, caused by the sliding of the conveyor belt on the table, may constitute a potential danger to the perfect efficiency of the polishing machines. To prevent this from occurring, SIMEC equips its granite machines with thick single-block working surfaces, on which the special interchangeable plates are installed.

The spindle-carrying beam is very close to the conveyor belt, thus reducing the centre of gravity of the bridge, making the new HPM machine even more performing in terms of balance of the masses and rigidity. The beam is a sole steel piece in the middle of which are ground the housings for the spindles. This solution has been created by Simec in order to give the utmost balance to the work of the abrasive heads and avoid any vibration of the bridge.
Movements of the bridge
The movement of the bridge is provided by 2 motors controlled by an inverter which transfer motion to the pinions by means of the amply-sized shaft. The blocking system between gearmotor and transmission consists of conical expanding lock rings. The sliding of the beam takes place on roller blocks in oil bath protected by stainless steel guards with labyrinth seal. The transmission system with hardened and cemented pinions and helicoid racks ensures extremely precise movements, preventing jibbing and vibrations both during reverse movements and at the extremely high speeds of translation of the bridge.
The spindles of the HPM RS polishing line have been engineered taking special care to the most delicate structural and kinematic aspects which are subject to wear. Thanks to the minimum lifting of the plates, with respect to the slab surface, the working speed is quicker and the edge polishing is better.
The HPM 2200 RS polishing machines equipped with special mechatronic spindles can perform the levelling of slabs besides the polishing. Some slabs after the cutting phase may have depressions or areas with overabundant material on the surface. A slab with a flat and levelled surface offers characteristics that considerably elevate the quality of the final product. These optional spindles were born exactly for this need and in this case the machine is supplied with an automatic reading device of the material thickness model RSL (optional accessory).
Levelling spindles are automatically placed in sequence according to the most suitable working levels, to the removal capacity of each spindle, to the thickness detected (by the RLS 2200 device) and to the feeding speed of the material.
The great advantage of this solution is the capacity to self-adjust the working positon of the spindles done by the system considering the thickness of each slab at the entrance, the thickness of the slab required and set by the operator and that derives automatically from the position of the spindles according to the removal capacity of each abrasive plate. The electronics of the HPM 2200 RS is extremely powerful and substantial investments in design, choice of components and programming have been made in the hardware and software components. The result of these efforts is an innovative, quick, highly reliable polishing machine with an astonishing ease of use. All the functions can be called up in an instant by means of the control panel which, in an intuitive manner, offers the possibility of regulating all aspects of the process as desired: speed of the belt, speed of the beam, slowdown at slab edge, re-polish areas, etc.
Standard control panel
The standard machine is equipped with a touch-screen control panel, with user-friendly interface, which the operator can interact in an extremely intuitive way by using clear screens which represent the machine or a portion of it. All the work parameters of the machine can be consulted in real time, in an alphanumeric or graphic form.
Optional control panel
As an alternative to the standard control panel, the machine can be equipped with an optional industrial PC, featuring a wider touch-screen display, advanced graphic interface and additional software functions. Hereinafter are some of the main screens and functions available with this option.
